Diana Zúñiga (she/her/hers) is a health and justice expert, community organizer, and policy advocate with over 10 years of professional work experience in group facilitation, coalition building, campaign management, leadership development, racial equity, and political strategy. Diana recently led The Los Angeles County Alternatives to Incarceration Work Group developing the Care First Roadmap to expand diversion and alternatives through her work with The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services.
Diana is currently weaving-in community engagement, racial equity, and participatory budgeting practices through her work to close Men’s Central Jail, create an Alternative Crisis Response System, and support the Reentry Health Advisory Collaborative in Los Angeles County. Diana has also worked for Californians United for a Responsible Budget, Drug Policy Alliance, and the Latino Voters League.
Diana’s expertise in state and local criminal justice and budget policy are rooted in her experience having her father and several other family members incarcerated. Her work supporting institutions, organizations and coalitions to expand their capacity stems from approaches based in values-based leadership, strategic development, participatory practice, and healing justice. Diana also identifies as a healer that works with indigenous spiritual practices bringing in medicine that connects to plants, dreams, and the elements.
