Youth For Justice Hold Annual Youth Leader Summit Food, Music, Facilitated Sharing, Medicinal Herb Gardening, Alcohol & Marijuana Prevention On Saturday, April 29, 2016, Youth For Justice, a community-building project of alcohol industry watchdog Alcohol Justice, held their Annual Youth Leader Summit at the offices of Alcohol Justice in the Canal neighborhood of San Rafael. The summit, sponsored by the San Rafael Alcohol and Drug Coalition, brought together 40 youth leaders from Marin and other Bay Area communities, providing a supportive forum for networking and peer learning. The theme for this year’s event was "Healing" -- self, community, Mother Earth. Through a process facilitated by John Mahkewa (Peacemaker, Hopi Tribe Member, and resident of Quechan Reservation, Yuma, AZ) participants shared their healing practices and what has helped them to navigate through difficult times. They also shared their commitment to making a difference by sharing their visions and stories of activism to reduce harm in their communities. Participants also enjoyed entertainment provided by the band Human Assembly. Youth For Justice is grateful for the generous supporters of this year’s Annual Youth Leader Summit: San Rafael Alcohol and Drug Coalition, University of San Francisco, Florencio González, American Soil, Picante Taqueria, and Alcohol Justice.
